It doesn't take long at Amigos to understand why it's such an appropriate name for this restaurant. As in the dictionary, "simple & straight forward" is what you find at Amigos. That's what the "real thing" usually is. For over 15 years owners Ramiro, (Ray) & Rocio, (Rosie) Llerena have been making a lot of friends, as well as great Mexican food at Amigos Cafe on east Trail. While the local clientele first created a loyal customer base, the "snowbirds" always learn from the locals where the best places are!
Originally from Ecuador, (you know, where the Galapagos Islands are!), while still in their teens the Llerenas made their way to Michigan, where Ray's brother-in-law had a job in the automotive industry lined up for Ray. After 20 years there, (& all that snow shovelling!), they decided to see what they might find at the south end of I-75, (which actually has it's northern end in Michigan's upper peninsula, at the Canadian border). Like so many before and since, as soon as they arrived in Naples, everything felt like "home", & home it's been ever since! In 2000 the Llerena's daughter, Tammy, and son-in-law, Dan Morris opened a second Amigos location on Marco Island. It's located on Collier Blvd. across from the Marco Town Center. While the Morris' youthful wanderlust, and Dan's roots in Alabama, have since set them on a new venture in Alabama. The Amigos location on Marco is still in operation and serving the same great fare!
